Poly Tech Industrial Services used a combination of different techniques in lieu of one type of system or supplier to provide the highest quality floor within a specific timeframe to meet food processing hygiene requirements.
Unifresh is a HACCP certified specialist in the processing of fresh cut fruit & vegetable products. Operating from their Woodville plant, UniFresh employs over fifty people and supplies every state in Australia with their products. The site was riddled with many concrete flooring issues which needed to be rectified over several stages that did not disrupt any production. The works included:
- The removal of drummy topping’s; re-screeding, epoxy coating and installation of polyurethane caulked control joints.
- In lieu of cutting and removal of damaged concrete, Poly Tech used polyurethane stabilisation and slab jacking prior to laying the epoxy mortar screed to specific areas.
- Application of an epoxy mortar screed built to fall away from the walls stopped water ponding.
- Diamond grind and apply an epoxy scratch coat to re-level the entire Process floor area up to 2mm thick over exposed aggregate areas, followed by the application of a non-slip, self levelling epoxy - total thickness 3mm-5mm nominal.
- Installation of strip drains and foot bath. Fibreglas lining system to the strip drains.
- Topcoat used was two coats of vinyl ester resin for short turn around and good chemical resistance.
- Caulking control joints
- Epoxy cove to floor to wall junctions
All works were completed with no rise or fall in the contract value.
