How do I know what floor system is best for my needs?
The flooring system you require depends on the environment you are dealing with and the performance features you desire. Poly-Tech flooring consultants are specially trained to evaluate your specific needs, covering all aspects of cost-effectiveness, durability, safety standards and overall performance. Poly-Tech can provide the right solution for your flooring needs.
Will I have to shut down my operation for the installation?
With Poly-Tech, you won’t have to be inconvenienced because we will work with your schedule. We can schedule your installation during shutdown periods. That means nights, weekends, and holidays! And many Poly-Tech flooring systems are specifically designed to be quick curing, enabling you to be back in operation with minimal down time.
Will we need to shut down our cool rooms or freezers?
Typically it is not required however in various circumstances Poly-Tech can arrange for temporary cold room/freezer to minimise issues.
How long will the floor last?
The lifespan of different flooring systems have many variables including thermal, pressure, impact, abrasion and chemical presence. Before selecting a system, it is imperative to have a clear understanding of your working environment including the presence of the variables, work practices, cleaning methods and frequency, budget and the lifespan you require.
What colours do you offer?
Floor systems can come in various colours and combinations of colours. Some systems though, such as dust sealers, can have a limited range whereas other systems such as self levelling floors and high solid paint coats can be applied in dozens of colours. Click this link to see our standard colour range in which we stock, however you can also consult the Australian standard colour range or European range (RAL) should you prefer considering alternatives. Non standard colours may warrant a surcharge due to their higher cost and minimum volume required for special orders.
Will the floor be slippery?
Poly-Tech has great experience in applying floors in many environments that require non slip flooring including production facilities to warehousing and workshops. Epoxy floors can be designed to meet many different slip resistant needs. They can easily achieve the recognised "R" rated system with the addition of various sized grits. It is also important to consider the ability to keep your floors clean in relation to the level of resistance.
How long does the floor take to dry?
The drying time for light foot traffic is typically overnight (subject to humidity and temperature). It is recommended not to place heavy equipment on the floor for approximately three days wherever possible. Epoxies do take about seven full days to achieve full cure and it is recommended to limit water contact during this time as discolouration can occur.
Does the paint/epoxy smell? Will my food be tainted?
All flooring system are quite varied. Many are food graded meaning they are suitable to be applied in areas such as supermarkets and food production environments.
Some systems are not considered food grade and do release high volatile organic compounds (VOC's) however there is often a more environmentally friendly alternative that do not require fans for ventilation or sites closed to the public/workers.
Will the floor scratch?
Flooring systems can scratch in similar fashion to timber floors when heavy objects are dragged across the surface. In many instances though, a sacrificial clear coating can be applied to protect the coloured coatings or decorative finish.
